1. What is a domain?
A domain name is simply a description of a computer's location on the Internet. For an organization, a domain name is similar to a customized license plate. Registering a domain name on the Internet is the equivalent of registering a company name at Companies House. Once registered, no-one else can use that name. As there are many companies with similar names, it is important to register a suitable domain name for your company as soon as possible. A domain name is a way by which a company can uniquely identify itself on the Internet. If your company name was "Yourfirm Inc.", the domain name would be yourfirm.com. Your web site would be located at: http://www.yourfirm.com and your email addresses would be in the form of: username@yourfirm.com There are three different types of domain names that you can register. 2. What is the length of time before my domain is activated?
Once Softwebworks has received your request for the registration of new Domain Name or change the DNS settings of existing Domain Name, it takes approximately 48 hours to complete the process.

3. What is .com, .net & .org?
".com", ".net" and ".org" are called as global top level domains and gives you global presence and image. These are three different extensions and you can choose one or any three with the name your register.

4. Why do I require a domain name?
To promote yourself and/or your business on the World Wide Web, you need a domain name of your own. You can promote your business online with the help of your domain name, thus making it possible for the worldwide web audience to reach your site.

5. How should I register my domain?
It is very simple to register your domains with Softwebworks Just check availability of name through "whois" search. If the name you want is available, book it straight away online. Your domain name will start reflecting in the whois search within 24 hours or realization of the payment.

6. Is this domain registered world wide or limited to a specific area?
The domain registered via Softwebworks is like any other domain registered via say NetworkSolutions or Internic

The reason we offer it cheaply is that we buy domains in bulk, and hence, can sell them cheaper .

8. What are these Admin, Billing and Technical contacts?
They were/are used when domains are registered. They are individuals who are the points of contact for each function

9. If I book Domain Name with you, how am I supposed to pay you?
You can pay us by Cheque or DD if favour of Softwebworks, payable at New Delhi, India or you can also deposit the amount at your nearest ICICI Bank.

10. My site is not ready, can I still register my domain name now?
Yes. Softwebworks will register your domain name and keep it for you till the time you are ready to host the site. The day you are ready to host your domain, you will have to contact us by email or telephone and we will setup your domain on our servers. (When required, your domain will be activated within 24 hours, Monday to Saturday only). We will set up your domain on our servers. After that a single web page indicating that your site is "under construction" will be put up by us.

11. How many domain Names can I register?
You can register as many as you like provided they are available to be booked. In all circumstances you will have to adopt the same process of domain registration, which you were adapting to book a single domain

12. What if my domain name turns out to be taken?
This is a very real possibility as there are tens of thousands of names being registered EVERY day. Even if its available when you sign-up for Softwebworks services in this regard, there may be someone in the process already that wants that domain name. The best bet is to pick a domain name that is simple for customers to remember yet unique enough that no one will possibly think of using it. You may also be able to get a name close to what you want merely by putting - or some other part of your legal business name into your domain name.

13. How long does it take for a Domain to be registered?
As soon as we receive your payment your name is registered and message of confirmation is sent to you simultaneously. You can register names through our site and opt for one of the multiple payment options available

14. Once the domain name gets registered can I change the name of the registrant?
To change the name of the Registrant of the Domain, you have to come to us in person with a letter clearly mentioning the Name of the new Registrant and his/her address and e-mail. You can simply send us mail to change information of other contacts.

15. What is the domain price?

16. After registering multiple domains, whether I can pay by one single Demand Draft
Yes, you can do so. Mention all the Domain Names you are paying for at the back side of the cheque/DD. Without these details it will not be possible to process your request.

17. How do I change Nameservers?
Changing your nameservers is very simple. Just mail us with the details of new nameservers at info@softwebworks.com, we will make the necessary changes.

18. I have a domain elsewhere, can I move it to you?
Yes, you can. Just mail us with details at info@softwebworks.com

19. If I register a domain do I need to renew before expiry?
Yes, you need to do so before expiry or else the name will become available again and any other person will be able to register it.

20. What is the shortest/longest period for which I can register a domain?
As per the current rules you can register for a minimum of 1 year & maximum of 10 years.

21. If I change my Email address will that make a difference?
Yes, we communicate via Email, so please notify us of your new Email address.

22. If I change residence will that make a difference?
No, we communicate via email, so unless you change your e-mail it will not make any difference. Moreover to make any change in your contact address you can always contact us at info@softwebworks.com and we will update out database.

23. Can you design my WebPages for me?

24. Can payment be made by credit cards?
We are in the process of providing our customers with on-line payment facility. Till then you have to bear with us.

25. How shall I get the bill and invoice for my payment?
We do not normally send any bills or invoices. All our correspondence is via e-mail and we inform your payment amount over e-mail. However if you need the invoice/receipt of your payment you can mail us at info@softwebworks.com with full details of the domain name and the payment made to us.

26. What is the process of domain transfer and how does it work?
After filling in the form and when the payment is cleared you will receive an Email which you have to reply to. This is to authenticate that the domain belongs to you. The domain will then get transferred and renewed.

27. How long will it take to transfer a domain?
It will take about one month depending on the Registrar and the Administrative Contacts for the transfer to be executed.

28. What are the benefits of transferring from a more expensive domain registrar like networksolutions.com?
You pay only Rs.350/- for transfer. You are entitled to the balance period from the old registrar plus one year with Softwebworks

29. How much should I pay to transfer a domain and renew it for one year?
You pay only Rs.350/- for a one-time transfer.

30. What is the procedure of renewal if the domain has been registered by different registrar?
If you don't want to transfer the Domain Name to us the you have to renew your domain through your existing registrar by paying them the amount they charge for renewal.

31. If I register a domain name, do I have to renew my annual fees before expiry of the period every year? Is there no block registration for life?
Yes, you will be sent a reminder and If you do not renew, the domain will simply become available again. There is no block registration, currently you can register for a maximum of 10 years.

32. If the domain is registered with Softwebworks long will the renewal take?
Within 24 hours of receiving the payment we will renew the domain.

33. What is the renewal rate?
Rs.500/- per domain name per year.

34. How can I renew my domain name?
If the domain was registered with Softwebworks, just intimate us in written along with the payment for renewal, your Domain will be renewed within 24 hours.

35. What is domain parking?
When you register a domain and do not host it, it is Domain Parking. Softwebworks has merely let the customer use its name servers to register the domain.
